Overview

A refreshing twist on the classic Moscow Mule, this version layers muddled blackberries and mint with bright lime and spicy ginger beer. It’s slightly sweet, lightly tart, and incredibly aromatic.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz vodka

  • ½ oz fresh lime juice

  • ½ oz simple syrup (adjust to taste)

  • 6–8 fresh blackberries

  • 6–8 fresh mint leaves (plus more for garnish)

  • 3–4 oz ginger beer (to top)

  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Muddle the base: In a sturdy glass, gently muddle the blackberries, mint leaves, and simple syrup. Press enough to release juices and oils, but don’t shred the mint.

  2. Add the citrus and spirit: Pour in the lime juice and vodka. Stir briefly to combine.

  3. Add ice: Fill the glass with ice—crushed or cubed both work, though crushed gives a more traditional mule feel.

  4. Top with ginger beer: Pour ginger beer over the top and give a gentle stir to integrate.

  5. Garnish: Add a sprig of mint and a few whole blackberries on a pick, like in the photo.

Flavor Notes

  • Bright and slightly tart from the blackberries

  • Cooling herbal notes from mint

  • Zesty spice from ginger beer

  • Balanced sweetness that can be easily adjusted

Optional Variations

  • Bourbon swap: Replace vodka with bourbon for a deeper, richer profile

  • Spicier kick: Add a thin slice of jalapeño when muddling

  • Lower sugar: Skip simple syrup if your ginger beer is already sweet

Presentation Tips

  • Use a clear glass to showcase the deep purple color

  • Let blackberry pulp settle slightly for a layered look

  • Keep mint bright and upright for that fresh, garden-style finish
